Polish version of ICONCLASS

Iconclass is an international system of iconography classification, used in museums all around the world. Its beginnings date back to mid-20th century (it was developed by Henri van de Waal in 1940s) – it was created in Holland, and today it is available on-line, since recently in a form of an illustrated edition (https://iconclass.org/)
Within 10 categories each motif depicted in an artwork may be described with a code organised in a tree data structure:
Each record has its own keywords, aiding search. The thesaurus – still under development – consists of over 58 000 records.
In co-operation with the National Museum in Cracow I am now preparing a complete and entirely new translation of ICONCLASS into Polish. It is supposed to become an official Polish version used by museums all around Poland.
