Article on depictions of hirsute Mary Magdalene in Lesser Poland
I am happy to announce publication of my article:
“Hirsute Mary Magdalene. Some Late Gothic Examples from Lesser Poland and Contribution to Interpretation of Their Iconography”, in: HISTORICA REVUE PRO HISTORII A PŘÍBUZNÉ VĚDY 2021/1, pp. 1-22.
It mainly focuses on images from Lesser Poland, but I also used the opportunity to present other examples, hoping that they would become better known abroad.
The article is based on a paper I presented at the conference “Visualizing the Other in the Late Medieval and Early Modern Art (1300–1550)” organised by the University of Ostrava and the Vivarium – Centre for Research of the Medieval Society and Culture on 14–16 November 2019 in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
